Robert

(he/him)

Afraid about coming out to his partner, Robert called GenderNexus to sort through his thoughts and feelings. He arrived at our first meeting nervous, anxious, yet excited. We explored not only his fears and concerns, but also his strengths and skills that would propel him forward. Together, we set a plan to reach his goals for coming out and for living into the person he knows himself to be.

Zia

(she/her)

“When I came out, I found myself navigating so many emotions—not just mine, but also my parents’, my partner’s, and my peers’. It was awkward and painful. I felt selfish and shameful for living my truth. Thankfully, a friend recommended GenderNexus to me, and I attended a game night. I’m so grateful I did. I got to see transgender people of all ages, alongside their families and friends, laughing and relaxing and just being themselves. In that moment, I no longer felt like a mistake.”

Sheila

(he/him)

"Life changing. GenderNexus does this [letter writing] for nothing to help your journey move a little smoother. I've dreamed of days that I'm living now."

Christine

(she/her)

Christine came to GenderNexus two days before her 65th birthday. With a Medicare card in hand, she could finally afford the hormone therapy she had always dreamed would help her see on the outside the woman she has always been on the inside. The only thing stopping her was a letter from someone in behavioral health. We sat down together as she shared her life story—one filled with strength and grit. Assured that a letter would be emailed within the week, Christine beamed, tears in her eyes, speechless.
